Majestic Goat

Majestic Goat,
hooves upon the fence,
Glorious beard draping down a foot from his chin,
eyes longingly, hungrily glaring at my cheese and onion sandwich,
stale in my hand.
I placed it in my mouth as I opened my bag
rummaging to find some food
nothing
looking up as if to say sorry
I stroked his beard
I felt wiser
as one always does whilst stroking a beard
the sun came from behind the clouds
blinded, for a moment
he struck
head surging forward
wet lips against my face
teeth clamping down on my sandwich
and then he was gone
along with my lunch
majestic goat
lost in the sound and smell
of the Animals and the farm...
