Ayr Academy: Beverley Andress

You can see it from very far away
It's neck going on for miles and miles
Its most distinguishing feature
With a big body and a small head
Little ears sticking up at the top
The colour of yellow and brown
Contrasting like a patterned dress
I hear the step which the animal makes
One at a time,
Slowly moving along,
Being tall having its advantages
Reaching up to the branch on the tree
Breaking up as though it's nothing
Just a crunchy branch,
The soft stroke of this animal's smooth skin, feeling like velvet.
The smell of wet leaves falling like autumn.
