The Liz Lochhead Collection
![]() |
Betwen October and December 2009, Liz Lochhead worked with pupils from nine Scottish schools, teaching them the craft of writing poetry. She explained techniques developed over a lifetime of creating some of Scotland's best-loved poems - poems drafted and worked on, until the words and imagery are exactly what is required. To ensure that the next generation does not lose the writing skills she has developed and the creativity they offer, Liz Lochhead worked with the schools through the medium of Glow, linking in video-tutorials on the internet, discussing in online chat rooms, and monitoring the pupils' work each week as it was uploaded to show how their poems were progressing. Pupils from all over Scotland - from primary seven to sixth year - worked with her using the latest technology. The 'Liz Lochhead Collection' contains the final poems which the pupils created amidst that mixture of traditional craft and modern technology. The collection was opened on Thursday, 14th January 2010 by Liz Lochhead. Enjoy! |
